Table hints……. Golf Rules

Ladies:

As everyone is not able to play on Ladies Play Day, and so you’re not missing anything apart from the fun, here are the four Rules hints that I made for the lunch tables that you may have missed.

Any questions?………… Fire away.

HOW TO DROP A BALL

Stand erect
Hold ball at arm’s length and shoulder height then drop the ball

If done INCORRECTLY AND THE BALL IS PLAYED
One stroke penalty

OUT OF BOUNDS

Your ball is Out of Bounds (OB) when ALL YOUR BALL IS OB

PUTTING GREEN

Your ball is on the putting green when ANY PART OF IT touches the putting surface

HOLE 14

On your tee shot your ball goes through the iron fence on the left side of the green.
NOW WHAT?

Your ball is OUT OF BOUNDS

Replay from teeing ground and take a one stroke penalty

Here’s the last and the longest…..sorry!

UNPLAYABLE BALL, Rule 28

A player may declare their ball UNPLAYABLE AT ANY TIME WHEREVER THEIR BALL MAY BE except IN A WATER HAZARD
with a one stroke penalty…..What are your options?

Play a ball from where you last hit your original ball……or

Drop a ball within two club lengths from where your ball lays, no nearer the hole….or

Drop a ball behind where your ball lays, in line with the hole, as far back as you like

Hope these help you.

By-Laws & Standing Rules… Proposed Changes

At the March General Meeting, the Board will be presenting a few changes to the By-Laws and to the Standing Rules and Tournament Regulations. This changes will be posted on the official DBWGC Bulletin Board located in the Pro Shop. The following is a summary of the changes. These are minor and straightforward changes. The actual text is here:

By-Laws Change: The proposed change will make our election rules consistent with the WGANC rules which allows for waiving of casting and counting ballots for uncontested positions. All other elections processes remain the same including the acceptance of nominations from the floor and absentee ballots.

Standing Rules and Tournament Regulations:

Standing Rules:

Specify that the Course Handicap Maximum of 36 is calculated from the Gold tees. #3

Remove reference to the USGA Handicap Index, which will allow for changes to the course rating without updates to the Standing Rules.#3

Tournament Rules:

Update the deadline for Tuesday Play sign-up to Sunday at noon. #2

Clarify how CTP and Chip-in sweeps will be paid out. #6

Add the Invitational to the specified “Major Tournaments”. #9
